Alliance Manager
Working in partnership with the Chief Manufacturing Officer and their teams to oversee and manage the portfolio of key strategic collaborations within the Manufacturing centre and across the wider organisation ensuring partnering culture and behaviours are adopted to optimise the value created in collaboration with our current and future partners.
Responsible for managing all aspects of partnership management from the late stage of deal activity, through integration, alliance setup, ongoing alliance management, and exit.
Leading and driving the partnership capability and processes within the team and
across the organisation.
Key Responsibilities
- Serves as the primary point of contact with the Collaborator
- Manages long-term relationships between CGTC and the Collaborator
- Works closely with alliance management counterpart and senior executives at the collaborator company.)
- Facilitates relationships at all levels within both organisations
- Coaches/mentors CGTC team members and executives on appropriate interactions
- Develops and maintains strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders
- Builds mutual trust and ensure effective communication between the internal and external team members
- Effectively managing the Joint Steering Teams, clarifying role and mandate of the joint governance within the contractual framework
- Educates team members on contract terms, obligations, achievements and roles and responsibilities and works with project team to ensure that both CGTC and its alliance partners, are compliant with contractual obligations
- Identifies risks, pre-empts issues and facilitates conflict resolution; manages escalation processes
- Understands partners’ strategies, structures, cultures goals and objectives and implications for CGTC. Serves as the voice of the partner within CGTC
- Develops trust-based relationships with key stakeholders within CGTC and the Collaborator
- Identifies opportunities to create additional value from existing partnerships
- Organises and manages a cross-functional internal team, to facilitate the coordination of alliance activities across functions, and to provide a formal channel of communication from the alliance governance committees into the functions
- Works closely with business and function leaders to develop aligned positions before engaging with partner
- Ensures appropriate record keeping for meeting minutes, decision log, financial transactions, and other key alliance documents
- Conducts periodic assessments of the alliance; health checks, managing alliance scorecards and metrics
- Prepares a monthly/quarterly report of alliance management activities and any required financial reporting
Experience:
- Experience in Alliance Management roles ideally working within a GMP manufacturing organisation
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
- Highly motivated, pragmatic, and practical to support the mission of the Cell and Gene Therapy Catapult to accelerate the development of a commercial cell and gene-based therapy industry in the UK
- Prior experience leading strategic alliances within either a Pharma or Biotech company
- Highly skilled at building collaborative relationships across the organisation, through effective team- and networking, conflict management, communication skills and intercultural sensitivity
- A proactive approach to problem solving coupled with strong analytical skills and strategic thinking
- Excellent interpersonal communication (oral and written) skills, with a high level of emotional intelligence to develop relationships with key internal and external stakeholders
- Resilient and flexible with the ability to able to actively learn through experience of successes and failures and rebound from setbacks and adversity when facing new or difficult situations
- Flexible and pragmatic, able to learn quickly and respond flexibly to project needs and priorities
- Willingness to travel
Education / Qualifications:
- Degree in life sciences and/or pharmaceutical with significant experience working within a GMP setting. MBA is considered a significant plus.
