On Monday 23rd April we welcomed colleagues from across industry and academia to the Cell and Gene Therapy Catapult manufacturing centre to celebrate this momentous occasion.
We were honoured to have the Business Secretary Greg Clark and Science Minister Sam Gyimah join us at the event. Both ministers spoke to the audience before unveiling the plaque to officially open the centre.
The ministers were then given a tour of the state-of-the-art GMP manufacturing centre and had the opportunity to speak with our collaborators about their involvement. Adaptimmune, Asymptote, Autolus, Cell Medica, Freeline and Thermo Fisher Scientific each highlighted aspects of their work.Backed by over £60m in government investment, the Cell and Gene Therapy Catapult manufacturing centre will ‘bridge the gap’ between scientific research and commercialisation of the medicines of the future, helping to bring cell and gene therapies to market.
